Jesus would come to gallery stroll this Friday to see the new solo show by artist Reclaimed Sentiment at Stolen & Escaped Gallery!
The Salt Lake Art Center’s Micol Hebron has described the artistic approach of Reclaimed Sentiment as ‘interventionist’. Marrying discarded tableaus and old book illustrations, the approach of Reclaimed Sentiment’s work isn’t immediately understood at first glance. On closer inspection a cut and paste collage process reveals itself. Is this Art? Perhaps the art lies in the artist’s ability to find the backdrops and actors who star in the pieces whilst combing Salt Lake Valley second-hand stores. Scissors as paintbrush and glue the medium. Hmmmmm. Why don’t you be the judge? Stolen & Escaped Gallery (177 E. 300 S. downstairs at Frosty Darling) hosts Reclaimed Sentiment’s first solo show, ‘WWJD?’ opening this Friday for Gallery Stroll and running through May 13th.
